Wardrobe Stylist & Leather Production Intern

During my time at Forward I held many positions including personal wardrobe stylist, leather production assistant, and visual merchandiser. Here I specialized in dressing clientele of all body types from head to toe. During my internship, I was able to have a hand in designing and building leather handbags and belts as well as be the lead visual merchandiser for displays. My summer here was split into three months, the first month was all about selling. I learned the proper vocabulary, how to dress and guess sizes of all bodies. My next month was design and leather work. I got to build and sew leather handbags on industrial machines and work on a special bag collaboration with the owner. The third month was learning all about the back end of the business. This included analytics, pay-roll, and assisting in the buying process.

Pre-Production Intern

I had the opportunity to experience interning in Los Angeles, California this past summer for a wholesale brand called Sage The Label. During my internship, I was able to learn with a hands-on approach as well as get training in many different positions. My experience at this internship gave me an inside look into the fashion industry and a chance to see product development full-circle.

Taking on an internship before I was fully emerged into my Apparel, Textiles, & Merchandising classes allowed me to gain a real-world learning experience that will stay with me forever. Working for a company that was smaller really gave me the opportunity to work next to the CEO and creative director of the brand, and even sit in on production meetings. I learned to better develop my communication skills, industry knowledge, and overall garment terminology. I am excited to see where this experience will be able to take me in the future.
